Today, everyone gets so engaged in their daily schedule that they forget to concentrate on happiness. This book will help you to learn that happiness is within yourself. No matter what we achieve or what we do, being happy is the most important thing in life but most of us find it difficult to stay happy. Here, personal experiences are shared which will give you a glance at how you are responsible for your happiness.

In this book, happiness in life is considered a tree. For a tree, the roots are the most important part. In the same way, you start this journey by creating a strong base by focusing on yourself. The first five chapters will help you to grow internally. Some of the ideas discussed include giving time to yourself, connecting with nature, believing in yourself, defining happiness as a goal and being the in-charge of your happiness. These ideas will remind you how you can stay happy while being with yourself.
The next four chapters are considered the stem of the tree-the strongest part, in the same way, the next chapters are about enjoying life to its fullest and having balance in life which means knowing how to deal with extreme situations in life, living in the present instead of focusing on past or future and making sure that our every action has a positive effect on you. These four chapters will teach how to find happiness by living your life in the best possible way.
The last few chapters are like the branches of a tree. These chapters are about the importance of giving good vibes to the world, counting your blessings, showing empathy and learning to say no to things you do not want to do.
So all these chapters are important if you want your tree of happiness to bloom beautifully. So, start with your JOURNEY TO A HAPPY SELF today.

INTRODUCTION

I was born in a middle-class family. We are very close to each other. Spending some time with family, after having a busy day is a kind of family ritual in our family. During that time we share what happened in our day, the ups and downs of the day with one another. My father is a theist and he tells us stories in a very interesting way that were meant to teach me and my brother big lessons in life.
One day I was discussing with my father how life goes on. I simply asked my father “Papa, when I look around I see no one is happy, no one is satisfied in their lives, everyone is just running and trying to find peace and happiness in life but no one is getting it.”
My father simply smiled and said, “happiness is in your pocket, you don’t have to search for it somewhere out.”
On hearing this I was startled because I didn’t get what he meant to say. So I asked him, “What do you mean, papa?”
He said, “We will discuss it some other day.”
That night I kept on thinking about what my father said. I was wondering if it is so easy to be happy then why the entire world can’t be just happy and live peacefully?
After a few days, my father planned a family trip to Haridwar. My brother and I were too excited about the thought that we were going to enjoy ourselves and have the best time with our family.
But our parents planned the trip to teach us a few important things in life.
We went there, we enjoyed ourselves a lot. During our stay in Haridwar, for the first, I was watching someone so happy and satisfied in their lives. we met some of the saints who barely possessed any precious things. But
There was peace and happiness in their lives.
I was totally surprised to see that. My parents understood what was
going on inside my head.
We stayed there for a few days and I was keenly observing the lifestyle of a few saints and the people who were living life on their terms. I was
trying to get answers to my question.
After having a peaceful stay there, and while coming back to our
home my father asked me “Now you understand why I said happiness
and peace are in our pocket.”
I replied happily, “Never understood anything better. I got the key to happiness and peace there.”
After that trip what I promised myself was to stay happy and peaceful, and to learn from every happening in life.
There I learned that life is a beautiful gift given to all of us and I got answers for many questions I had about life.
Everyone is living life but how we live it, is a journey that makes it worthwhile. Out of so many creatures on earth, only humans can make this life a journey where they can be remembered for the beauty of living a life with art. Humans spend their whole life in search of happiness.
There are two ways, either we create or find. We have to create something which doesn’t already exist but we always tend to find something which is always there. All we need is to choose the right path to find the thing that we want.
Let me share one personal experience here, I was abruptly searching for my spectacles. I guess here everyone reading the book and who wears spectacles can relate to it. Am I right? After failing to find it, I called my mother and asked her to help me.
As soon as she entered my room she said, “What are you combing for?”
I responded with all tension on my face, “Muma, I can’t find my spectacles. I have been trying to find it for half an hour.”
She laughed while coming near me and said, “What’s in your pocket?”
I checked and realized the thing I was looking for the last half an hour was all near to me but just couldn’t realize it.
After that, I recall thinking to myself that we often search for two types of things:
We search for things that we think are far from us and we think we have lost them. All we need is proper knowledge and a right path to get them.
We search for things, which are far from us or which we have lost. For example, the things which we have lost in a crowd are really hard to find.
So, happiness lies in the first category, as my father said it is in our pockets and we don’t realize how close it is to us unless we have proper knowledge about it and know the proper path on which we can go on to achieve it. This means happiness is not far from us but due to continuously living in this world where we are in the practice of not living happily and people we come in contact with, are in the habit of not being satisfied in their lives and being unhappy.
I have heard a story where a mountain deer searches for musk all over the forest because he is unaware that the aroma that he is searching for is already within his gland. So deer search for that only. I suppose we are doing the same while searching for happiness. We are searching for something outside which is already in ourselves.
Happiness is something we can’t buy from markets or we can’t borrow from others. Happiness is a sensation of feeling good that is felt within ourselves and by ourselves. Still, if we ask people around, maximum people will assert that they are not happy in life and are struggling to find it. and maybe because we are failing to understand that the most important Maybe because we are failing to understand its accurate definition aspect of happiness is ourselves.
I realised, earlier I was focusing on everything around me but not on myself who will make my journey of life worth living, It is not the materials that will give me actual happiness.
We need to understand that no material will stay constant in life, not even our body. If our body was in our control then no one would have fallen sick, and no one would have aged because we didn’t want to. But childhood comes and goes, our youth comes and goes and we start aging gradually None of this is in our control. Everything around us will keep on changing.
If we fail to give the right value to life then it will be a mere description of a process of inhaling and exhaling. Eventually one day this process will come to a halt but it depends entirely on us and we can convert this monotonous process of inhaling and exhaling into a beautiful journey where we can give our little to make this world a better place to live and make this journey worthwhile.
Nobody in this world is living a life without hurdles. Each one of us is dealing with our hurdles and troubles in life. In my personal opinion, life is a book and each day that we live is a new page of this book, each day will teach us something new, and will give us something new to learn.
It is upon us what we want to write each day on these pages of the book. It can be our grinds, our failures, our victories, our pains, and our delights. A new day gives us a new opportunity to make this book beautiful. It is entirely on us how we use that opportunity. We can leave that new page blank or we can write a beautiful story on it, which can help us to live our life beautifully.
We all generally think that ‘Yes, of course, I’m happy in my life.’ When someone talks to us about happiness, we generally use social media or many other ways to prove to others that we are happy in our lives. When the flower blooms, it doesn’t make noise or go to someone and ask them to see its beauty. The flower spreads fragrance and beauty around it, which attracts everyone in the surroundings without any effort and everyone gets to know that the flower is now blooming. This is how a flower stands out.
In the same way, here’s a test that can tell us whether we are really happy in our life or not. We need to check that when someone comes into our contact, whether that person feels happy, gets positive vibes and forgets about the problems that are going on in life or not, whether our ideas disseminate positivity in our surroundings or not, whether people like the aura that we carry and whether we are the source of happiness around us or not?
If the answer to all these questions is ‘Yes,’ then certainly we are happy but if the answer to all these is not a yes then we need to work on it because when we are truly happy, all these things will happen without any effort.
Here, we will refer to happiness as a tree. Three important parts of a tree are roots, stems, and branches.
So we will talk about how can keep this tree of happiness always blooming, which will make our lives beautiful and help us to live our lives in the best possible way. These three are important parts of the tree. So if the proper care is given to these three parts then the tree will surely grow outstandingly.
In the same way, if we keep in mind these chapters then happiness will surely grow outstandingly in our lives, making our life beautiful and will help us to make Our Journey To Happy Self a beautiful journey.

The roots are the base of the tree. The most important functions are to absorb water and minerals from the soil and to prevent the tree from sol erosion. In the same way, the first five chapters of this book are the roots that will create the base of happiness in our lives because the role of self is major in our journey to happiness
