Electro-Homoeopathic Medicine: A New Medical System

This book has been written chiefly by Dr. Gliddon for the benefit of those who have already become convinced of the value of the Mattei medicines. It is believed that this work is an important part of the System Mattei. We hope you will enjoy this valuable book, which gives a brief insight into the discovery of electro-homeopathy together with a rational explanation of the principles involved and the proposed medicines. This book had been written at the request of the Count, enriched by his
experiences of this healing method. An interesting view into a magical 19″ century medical science, which is equally relevant today.

Introduction

Stepping Stones to Electro Homoeopathy (Count Matter’s system of medicine,) was written at the request of the Count by A.J.L. Gliddon, enriched by his experiences and provided with his portraits, Electro Homoeopathy deals more with an electric “fluid” which is called bio-electricity of plants. It includes a catalogue of diseases cured by electro-homeopathy with the indication of the remedies of curing them. It has been published from Central Mattei Depot, London in 1893. It is by means of a theory the simple, with curative agents which he called Electricity in the remedies (Electro-Homoeopathy), so elementary that everyone may cure himself and his medicine is certainly the medicine of the future.
Stepping Stones to Electro Homoeopathy is by means of a theory of the simple yet effective therapeutic school, with curative agents which he termed Electricity in the remedies (Electro-Homoeopathy), so elementary that everyone may cure himself and Electro Homoeopathy medicine is certainly the medicine of the future.

HOW TO PREPARE THE DILUTIONS AND EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS
First Dilution – Dissolve one first dilution globule (one of the little pills, not, as some suppose, a whole tube-full of them) in a six. ounce bottle or three-quarters of a tumblerful of distilled water, or water which has been boiled.
The globule may readily be broken up with a spoon after it has been allowed to stand in water for a few minutes.
Litre Dilution (L).-Dissolve one first dilution globule in four of water, or dissolve one globule in a French wine bottleful of water, teaspoonfuls of water, and put one teaspoonful of this into a tumblerful
Second dilution or third dilution  from which the second and third Second and third dilution globules have been prepared (marked dilutions respectively can be prepared exactly as the first dilution is made from a first dilution globule. Those who have only first dilution globules may prepare the
second dilution thus:
Put one teaspoonful of the first dilution into a second six-ounce bottle and add water so as to fill up the whole bottle or three-quarters of the tumbler.
The Third Dilution may be prepared from the second dilution, thus: Put one teaspoonful of the second dilution into a third six- ounce bottle It is generally advisable to commence treatment with the intermediate or second dilution. and add water as in the second dilution.
Patients who suffer from heart disease, hysteria or epilepsy, generally require the third dilution.
WHEN FIRST DILUTION CLOBULES ARE USED NO CLOBULES ARE TO BE PUT INTO THE SECOND OR THIRD CLASS BOTTLE.
When the second or third dilutions alone are needed, it will be convenient to form the first dilution by dissolving one first dilution globule in a one-ounce bottleful of distilled or boiled water. Ten drops of this medicated fluid put into a six-ounce bottle or three- quarters of a tumblerful of water will form the second dilution.
The dilutions may be kept for use as long as the water remains good. The addition of a little spirit will serve to keep them pure. The glasses containing them should always be covered. BE SURE TO SHAKE OR STIR UP the dilutions before using them.

to cause confusion.

PREFACE

HE Author has had the privilege of interview- ing and corresponding with a large number of persons who have wished to become acquainted with the best methods of using Count Mattei’s medicines. He has thus learnt both what the majority of students of the new medical system most wish to know, and also what they find it most difficult to ascertain from the handbooks which have already been published. He has discovered that there is a real need of just the kind of book which he has striven to produce. In the following pages he has endeavoured to provide heads of families, clergymen and others with sufficient information respecting common diseases, and the best methods of treating them to render it possible for them to make good use of the interval between the discovery of disease and the appearance of a medical adviser, or to treat simple complaints when the assistance of a medical man is not deemed necessary.
This book has been written chiefly for the benefit of those who have already become convinced of the value of the Mattei medicines. It is, however, also designed to supply inquirers with such information and evidence as may serve to lead these to try them.
The introductory chapters contain answers to some of the objections which have been raised against the remedies. And the appendix supplies a brief epitome of the treatment which has proved successful in com bating various serious diseases, including some which are usually regarded as incurable.
Count Mattei has suggesteda few simple testa one which may serve to convince inquirers that his remedies possess the properties which he attributes to them, Every one will have an opportunity of performing or two of these interesting experiments. The old adage says that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. It is equally true that the proof of the medicine is in the using. Those, therefore, who doubt the state- ments made by Matteists with reference to the Count’s mysterious drugs had better test them for themselves and see whether the following things do not occur.
(1.) A compress of Green Electricity will relieve articular pains, the pains of external Cancers and pains from any kind of ulcer.
(2.) 10 to 20 Globules of Scrofolso, will sober an in- toxicated person, provided he is not an habitual drunkard.
(3.) 1 to 3 Globules of the same remedy, together with the application of Red Electricity to the pit of the stomach, will cure an attack of nervous indigestion.
(4.) Compresses of Blue Electricity applied to a bleeding wound, will stop hæmorrhage, relieve pain and promote cicatrization.
(5.) A few drops of Blue Electricity poured into the palm of the hand and applied lightly over the heart, will relieve palpitation.
The Author is greatly indebted to Miss R. of Hampton Wick and to Dr. C. Stirling Saunder, of 64, Welbeck Street, Cavendish Square, for many valuable hints and for assistance in correcting the proofs. He will feel obliged to any other careful observers who will report to him the results of their experiments with the various Mattei Remedies, and will welcome any suggestions which are likely to assist him in pre- paring a revised edition of the present work.
